Good Morning Readers! Here’s some food for thought: (pun intended). Today is #wellnesswednesday , that makes it the perfect time to talk about some things I’ve picked up as a Certified Holistic Health Coach. Right now, I’d like to talk about “Sensual Eating!” Ooh la la 😅 *Warning*: You might learn how to absorb nutrients better, feel less uncomfortable after eating and lose weight. Intrigued? Read on! 🙂

1. Before any meal, digest your feelings. So many of us turn to comfort eating, but this simple step can avoid it. Take note of whether you’re really hungry, then exactly how you’re feeling today, and work on accepting all your emotions. Shift your mindset by looking at the positives, because no matter how healthy the meal you’re about to eat is, if your thoughts are negative, your body won’t absorb the nutrients as well. Mind blowing! I know right? 😉

2. Eat “Sensually”. This means eating with ALL your senses. After all, we eat with not only our mouth, but with our eyes. Take note of how your meal looks (sight), how it feels (touch), how it smells, does it have a sound (Rice Krispies anyone? “Snap”, “Crackle” and “Pop!” lol), and of course, how it tastes.

3. Chew your food slowly… aim for 20 to 30 bites. It takes the body 20 to 30 minutes to digest food and ideally we should only eat until we are 80% full, not 100% as we’ve been misguided to believe growing up. By allowing your body more time to eat your meal, it gives your brain time to catch up with your belly to tell it that it’s full. Now you won’t feel too full or lethargic for the rest of the day. You’re welcome 😁 By making a habit to do all of these simple, but effective tricks, you’re preparing your body to nurture itself, while respecting the art and blessing that it is to eat. Eat healthy, eat wholesome and smile along the way.
