A little loving kindness goes a long way, and words truly matter. Everything has energy; from the clothes we wear, to the music we listen to, to the shows we watch, and who we spend our time with. Words are no different, and the words we choose, to the intention with how we say things, hold tremendous energy and power. I’m a big believer and writer of affirmations and I encourage you to speak these following words (further below) often, with the pure intention of spreading love, kindness and wellness for all.
I recently was blessed to be able to study Vocal Health with Vocal Health Education, a U.K based company that educates artists and vocal coaches around the world (more on this soon). As a part of the Vocal Health First Aider Course, one of the modules covered was mindfulness for musicians and was taught by the incredible Dr. Anne-Marie Czajkowski. She introduced us to the loving kindness meditation and the Metta prayer, or Metta Bhavana; one of her favourite sayings.
Though I realize I have been practising loving kindness for quite a while before learning more about it, I was so fascinated and touched by it, and loved it so much, that I wanted to share it with you, as it has now become one of my favourites too. It’s so full of love and this I intend you all to feel when you read it and repeat it, either out loud, or as part of your inner wish with your loved ones and others in your thoughts.
The Metta Bhavana/Prayer/Loving Kindness Meditation, which is said like an affirmation, derives from Buddhism and might help people cope with stress, depression, anxiety, while allowing us to cultivate more peace, love and well being towards ourselves and others. It’s an act of love and compassion and goes as follows:
“May you be happy,
May you be healthy,
May you be safe,
May you live with ease.”
Ah, doesn’t that feel good! I am so thankful to the beautiful, gentle religion that is Buddhism and to Dr. Czajkowski for teaching me this beautiful meditation prayer. You can make this prayer more personal to yourself in order to focus on your own self care and well being. Say these words daily and often and feel the difference:
“May I be happy,
May I be healthy,
May I be safe,
May I live with ease.”
Remember, choose the energy you invite into your life, home, heart, mind and soul carefully and you will feel all the more better for it.
I intend for you to have an amazing day ahead! And whatever you do, do it with love, won’t you?
Love & Light,
Sangeeta 🙏🏼💕
